Paul Spills the CBD: Different Types of Cannabinoids

Here at The Hemp Division, we’re excited about our latest product, THD gummies! Still an all-natural, from-the-roots-up product like our other offerings, our gummies have some different ingredients I wanted to “spill the CBD” about so that you’re always in the know regarding what you’re putting in your body when you incorporate our products into your healthy lifestyle.

Let’s start with the basics you’re already familiar with: CBD. Several years back when I first read about CBD, I knew it was something I wanted to grow with my brother and offer high-quality CBD products to our customers.

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It’s a natural chemical found in the cannabis sativa plant, better known as marijuana (THC) or hemp. Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive. Studies have shown that CBD can help in the management of:

  • Physical discomfort
  • Anxiety
  • Inflammation
  • Chronic pain
  • Nausea
  • Seizures and convulsion
  • Skin issues:  rashes, acne and eczema

CBD is one of the cannabinoids found in cannabis plants. Cannabinoids are active compounds in the cannabis plant that interact with our body’s endocannabinoid receptors to produce effects, mimicking the body’s own neurotransmitters. There are over 100 different types of cannabinoids in the cannabis plant.

What’s new in our gummies is the use of two other cannabinoids, CBG (cannabigerol) and CBN (cannabinol). CBG is being labeled the matriarch of cannabinoids. It quickly is becoming known to offer some benefits that are unique and offers a variety of promising therapeutic uses. It naturally increases dopamine levels, supports sleep, mood and appetite and reduces anxiety and depression. Who doesn’t have days where no matter what you try, you just can’t stay focused and motivated. Ask anyone who knows me and my focus can be an issue. Haha.

CBN is also at the top of the list for cannabinoids. It may be used to alleviate pain similar to traditional NSAIDs but without their potentially harmful adverse effects. CBN has shown effectiveness in reducing chronic muscle pain as well as symptoms of arthritis. It may also alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression.

The main difference between the cannabinoids depends on how psychoactive they are. CBD, CBN and CBG cannot activate intoxication due to their molecular design, meaning they are non- psychoactive. These three cannabinoids are very similar structurally and in their effects,  but CBG and CBN interact with different neuroreceptors, which gives the unique experienced effects apart from CBD.

While our hemp plants in New York this year were planted for CBD, next year we will be gearing up for our own CBG and CBN. For this year, we have reputable suppliers for the CBG and CBN. Much like CBD, CBG and CBN do not contain THC, and these products derived from hemp are federally legal to buy in the U.S. as long as they carry less than 0.3% THC. CBG and CBN are just as safe as CBD, although it is always best to discuss taking anything with your doctor, especially if you take prescription medications.

Wondering why we decided to use CBG and CBN? It’s simple. The demands on everyday life for the average person are leading us to find safer ways to be more focused and maintain the energy levels we need to complete our daily tasks. The addition of CBG and CBN to the CBD gummies seemed like a no-brainer to me.

For most consumers, CBG and CBN are new to them. Some people are still educating themselves on CBD let alone the up-and-coming cannabinoids such as CBG and CBN. We are doing a lot of this research for our customers because we want to bring you a high-quality product that will open doors to the neuroreceptors in our bodies in a safe way that will provide sleep, calm, focus and much more.

We hope you’ll try our new THD gummies and let us know what you think! Your feedback is important to us, just like your well-being! Plus, there’s just something about eating a gummy that makes you feel like a kid again, right?
